Curriculum

At Park Hill, we take children on an exciting, knowledge-rich learning journey where our REACH values are at the heart of what children learn. We show respect, have empathy, are ambitious, cooperate and value our health. We are "Ambitious Astronauts" - our ambition helps us on our journey towards reaching the stars and achieving in all subjects and areas!

We have designed a curriculum that has high expectations. It is accessible, inclusive and prepares children for their next stage of education. It promotes cultural capital, resilience, personal development and tolerance. Our curriculum reflects our school’s context which includes raising aspirations, promoting different cultures, responsibility and safety and forest school which involves risk taking, challenge and co-operation.

In Early Years, the curriculum addresses the Areas of Learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Much of the planning comes from the children's own interests: our teachers draw on things the children find engaging to plan lessons that meet their needs. Here is where the strong partnership with families start and we are proud of these.

In Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, teachers plan exciting lessons that challenge children and enable them to progress. We have carefully planned our curriculum to build upon children's existing knowledge and skills. “Flashbacks” are an important part of our lessons, where children are supported to be able to remember things they have previously learned.

At Park Hill, all teachers are responsible for providing an inclusive curriculum where reasonable adjustments are made for those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND). We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
