At Park Hill, we aim for all children to become fluent, confident readers who are passionate about reading. Read Write Inc. Phonics teaches children to read accurately and fluently, with good comprehension. Children also learn to form each letter correctly and spell, using the sounds they have been taught.

We begin teaching Read Write Inc. in the summer term of Nursery for those children who are ready. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are taught Read Write Inc, as well as any children who need further support in Key Stage 2.

Once your child is blending, they will bring home a "Book Bag Book," which contains the sounds that the children have been learning that week. It is important to encourage them to read it independently. 

Children will also be sent links to videos for their sounds of the week via Seesaw.
